  • Respect the Classics: 2014 Singles Case L

Not only is the 2014 year almost over as today is November 29, the 2014 Mattel year is coming to a close as well... a few of you have already found 2015 singles at Walmart stores, and PCD supporter Get Me Collectibles has had the first 2015 Singles and Deluxe cases... this year has had its ups and downs from a collecting standpoint... once again too many stores ordered too many of the first cases and as a result never got in new product... there are still a lot of Cars on the 2014 cardback that I haven't seen in stores.

In this installment of Respect the Classics we'll take a look at the 4 new singles in 2014 singles case L: Henri Motisse, Jonathan Shiftko, Chase Marco and Marcella, and Interview Franceso.

    Henri Motisse

Henri is not only my favorite Car from the 2014 Paris Tour series, he's one of my favorite 2014 Cars as well... stylish body... great accessories in both the paint brush and the easel.

I like his colors as well.

And recreating this seen from the movie was fun:

Although yes, I don't have the proper background.

It's amazing how his painting restores Geartrude and Lubewig to new:

Now this would have made a great boxed set... Henri, Lubewig, and Geartrude.

    Jonathan Shiftko

Part of the Allinol series, Jonathan Shiftko is a nice looking Audi.

He's stylish - looks very classy:

There's no denying the Audi emblem on the front of the car:

The rear is very stylish as well:

Even though Jonathan Shiftko has eyes, he's a very realistic looking Car.

    Interview Francesco

In my opinion, Interview Francesco from the Mel Dorado series is the weakest of the 4 new Cars from case L... part of that is because there are still loads of Francesco on 2011, 2012, and 2013 card still in stores... I do remember Francesco's expression from the scene in the movie... but it didn't strike me as being a must-have Car...

    Here's the cardback:

Yes, the expression of the mouth is different:

Interview Francesco has the black base that we've seen in most Francesco:

2374 EAA is the production code.

Thanks to Get Me Collectibles, I do have 2 Interview Francesco and have opened 1.

    Chase Marco and Marcella

Marco and Marcella, the Chase Lemon pittys, were finally released in case L... they had been announced in an earlier case... But remember Mattel's words - "case assortments are tentative and subject to change"... better late than never.

    Here's the cardback:

    They look great loose:

And notice that the accessory says "Secure".

    Yes, it says "Secure":

Nice hat... where have I seen it before?

That's right - Alexander Hugo with Party Hat... originally released as a Kmart Car and then again in 2014 in case D with Todd and Denise Beam.

Alexander Hugo seems pretty happy in the above picture... I didn't really think the Lemons were supposed to be happy... maybe he's happy because he finally has his Casino pittys?

    In Conclusion

2014 singles case L was the first 2014 case that actually contained 4 new Cars (5 if you count the pittys as 2)... unfortunately, there is only one of each in the case... this would have been a great first case to the 2014 Mattel year... and would have been better if there would have been 2 of each new Car in the case... Within the last 2 weeks, PCD members have reported finding some or all of these Cars at Target stores in the US (along the east coast and in California)... as my closest Target store is 50 miles away, I'm grateful to be able to order them from Get Me Collectibles.

Hopefully more of you will find the 2014 Case L singles soon... I thought I'd see new stock at Target and Walmart for the Black Friday start of the Christmas shopping season, but I haven't yet.

Which of the new Cars from 2014 Singles case L is your favorite? Let us know.

As always, thanks for reading... your comments are appreciated.

A couple of Super Chases & these fellas and I'm all caught up for 2014.

Edit: I think the plural of Francessco is Francesscocese FWIW.

Pretty new for "Classics" but those are some sharp cars! And a well-written article too. Thanks Chris!
