  • 2nd custom, an apple is born

I have been thinking for ages to purchase a custom apple car, but then it dawned on me to give it a go and make a custom myself, I like to learn by watching or viewing pictures/videos and I have watched enough videos now to be brave enough to tackle an apple,

This is my second proper attempt at a custom my first car I had chrome plated and them played around with different decals for it until I was happy and that came out alright for my first attempt.

I'm happy with how this one has come out after having to start from scratch twice due to the finish in the paint not being right, the car is still waiting for its clear coats but this will be done tomorrow as its getting late here now also the three window bars need painting white.

I'm going to do a black one tomorrow out of the 2nd car that I have prepped.

A few work in progress photos I took

    The donor cars

    Having a soak

    Getting ready for paint

Testing the decal sizes on the second car

Next to what will be the black one

    Closer look

And in front of Chris's article that was a great source of knowledge

Clear coat was always the scariest part for me.

There bathing in a local hardware store paint stripper, takes a little longer to go off but does the job just as good as the liquid form

Gotfrank, will I loose the decal lines completely after adding the clear coat?

Pretty scared of this part in 2 minds to get a friend to do it

well i finished my second apple car today, originally it was going to be a black icar but i couldnt get the decal right so ended up making a second white one, i used a flat white on this one as a trail thing, the only issue i had was the rear light decal, i put it on the wrong way and then lost some of the ink which caused the decal to be ruined, i will add the rear lights at another time as i have now run out of decal paper.

as for now for my first attempt at an apple car i can not complain, there not the greatest but on the flip side not the worst either, im more than happy with them and are perfect for my needs in my custom SOTS display that im in the process of building, will more than likely trade one as i only need one for now and will end up making more for practicing purposes
