I have only read about the Disney Princess line shifting to Hasbro in 2016. I haven't seen anything about the Disney Cars license shifting to Hasbro. Didn't Hot Wheels just make those Star Wars Cars last summer at SDCC?

I have mixed feelings about (or "if") Cars moving to Hasbro.

        Pros)
        1. Mattel packaged Cars will be worth more
        2. (Maybe?) Hasbro will release some characters that Mattel would never have thought to release

        Cons)
        1. Hasbro could re-release so many characters that are not needed (Finn McMissile, Mater, McQueen, Francesco, etc.)
        2. Hasbro might not make the die-casts like Mattel (like make them less metal, etc.)

"There's no earthly way of knowing
          Which direction we are going.
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing.
          Is it raining?
          Is it snowing?
          Is a hurricane a blowing?

Not a speck of light is showing
so the danger must be growing.
Are the fires of hell a glowing?
          Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes! The danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing.
          And they're certainly not showing
any signs that they are slowing!"

Looking at the bottom of my Star Wars Mater as Darth Vader single that I opened last year, here are the markings on the bottom of the Car:

                In black:
                C Disney/Pixar
                C 2013 LFL
                Made in China

                In White
                G128756
                1713093

No sign of the word Mattel or MI (Mattel Incorporated)

And there's no sign of Mattel on cardbacks... I can't imagine Mattel making something like this without putting the name of the brand on the Car or cardback.

                Here are pictures:

cac1959, based on the deal signed on 2000 it make sense that Disney Store items are done by Hasbro. However, won't Hasbro want their named being stamped on the card or toy? Perhaps is part of the 2004 deal....

So was that article actually from 2000? Is there actually a switch to Hasbro happening NOW or was that just confusion based off the article from when I was 3?

There are two articles -- 2000 and 2014 -- neither of which have anything to do with Cars.

10-4 thanks. Looks like I was all worried about nothing.

my only question here would be, if the cars do move to Hasbro, that they be the same size as what Mattel's are, they be made of the same quality, with metal and plastic.

Note: inside source says that the Star Wars Cars got nothing to do with Hasbro.

So could Hasbro sue Disney over that? I would think so unless Disney in acquiring Star Wars has the same carte Blanche deal they have with every toy maker. Basically that Disney can do whatever it wants whenever it wants.

Lots of different companies have a license to produce Star Wars Toys. Sideshow, Gentle Giant, Hot Toys, Lego, etc... I think Hasbro only has an exclusive license for the 3.75" and 6" scaled action figures and vehicles. The die-cast Star Wars vehicles would be a separate license Mattel could obtain from Disney.
