It's funny how quickly cars become less popular, now nobody seems to want ggg (I thought it would of been rarer then it is) The same with the Queen, She can now be picked up in discount stores .. Who would of thought

Thanks for the advice. I did a search using the Tesco storefinder and it came up with 42 stores within ten miles of my postcode! I didn't realise there were three Express stores in my home town! There's one at my local station. They did briefly sell cars and they were 'displayed on clipstips' (that's what I meant to say on my original posting). They *sold* them very quickly, or so I thought! I asked the duty manager if they were getting any more in and he said that the went quickly as most of them got stolen!

On the way to football last night, I tried a few different Tesco stores in *Sarf Eeeest Lun-dun*. The biggest Extra store in Woolwich must have had at least 100 old cars, many on the shelves and many displayed on clipstrips througout the store plus a couple of 996Y cases for good measure too! Tesco certainly overdosed on that case! Anyone still want a GGG? I know where I can get up to 4,500 of them! Now he's common as ...

I have ten large Tesco Extra (8) and Superstores (2) in my usual work and local areas.

In two blocks, I had a quick scoot around and all of them had plenty of stocks of older cars, mainly Silver Racers, Cars 2 996Y case and the odd car from the 994B case.

The average number of cars in each store was about 30. I don't know what Tesco's threshold is for restocking, but I would guess that it's possible that none of them will be getting the new case(s) or clipstrips at the moment.

One of the stores (Purley - South of Croydon) has recently been refitted with a whole new look. Most of the non-food stuff has moved upstairs, with many categories seeing a much smaller area. Toys, clothes, CD/DVD/Blu-ray, electrical goods and homeware sections have all reduced significantly in this store.

This store was previously one of my most productive for new cars. They have definitely overdosed on the Silver Racers (£6.50). There must be 50 of them, located on the top shelf near the magazine display!

Congrats madbob!! If the case assortment is the same as the US case M there should be 2 Rips, 2 Alex, Maurice & ND McQueen highlighting that assortment.

Wilko was a waste of time. The shelf was bare yesterday so I went to customer service. They looked on system and said they had none but they were due some in last night and to go back today. Went back today and was full of old carded maters and max.

Went to customer service again to check if that was the new stock or old ones from laying around and so looked on system again only to say that they're due another 6 Cars merchandise ?

I can't make sense of it myself. Did they honestly just get in half a dozen maters/max ?

That's interesting about Wilko, in Slough they are resetting toys at the moment. Wilko normally come good over Christmas as the toy areas normally get bigger due to Christmas. Its great if you can just walk into a store and ask them to order a case. I think I have done that in Sainsbury's before and a Poundland for decades Hot Wheels. Useful if they are happy to help.

I had this the same with tescos local and our massive tesco superstore when the 2013 first started coming out, our local was excellent with new clip strips every week! Our massive superstore didn't see any 2013 for months. Sadly they stopped sending them to our tesco local and have been bone dry for 6 months or so....

I've got a good example of that!

There is a Sainsbury's Local near my office. They are one of the smaller (local) branches. Unlike most Local sized stores they have a well stocked toy department. They get through one to two cases of Cars singles a week. For the size of store, that's phenomenal.

Just five miles away there is a Sainburys Superstore, one of their biggest and busiest. To put it into context, their turnover is in the region of 300 GBP (465 USD) million a year! They can go weeks without restocking Cars (and many other items)!

If one small neighbouring store restocks on a weekly basis, why can't the big store? Mattel can't be blamed for that! Any collectors descending in this area would go to the big store first. Faced with an empty Cars section, they'd give the Local store a miss and potentially miss out!

I'm sure there must be other examples of this seemingly illogical situation elsewhere?
