  • Spotlight on......madbob

Next up for the pixarcarsdiecast.com spotlight interview is the forums graphics expert....madbob

    2. Where are you from / where do you live now?
Grew up in Hampton, now live with my wife and son in Slough

    3. When did you start collecting Cars?
    September 2009

    4. Why did you start collecting Cars?
My son and I watched the movie together and then he kept on asking that he wanted to watch it again and again he just loved the race at the beginning of the movie, we started to buy a few diecast's and then it snowballed on from there. We probably even now still watch it once every couple of weeks.

    5. How many cars (roughly) do have currently have?
My wife has about 600 in the stock room as she has set up Kachow Toys. My son and I have about 120 Cars 1 & Toons combined that are loose, 40 packaged and 12 Cars 2 loose. Though we both intend to do a midnight raid on the stock when the wife's not looking, she doesn't need that many! 600 is just being greedy?

    6. Which diecast car is your favourite (only one allowed)?
Vinyl Toupee, love the de'cal graphics work.

    7. Which car (from the movie) is your favourite, and why?
Has to be Luigi, he gets so uncontrollably excited. Adores Ferrari's and is passionate about cars in general.

    8. What has been your best ever find?
The clip trips at Tesco & ELC in 2010... was a selection of KMART Day 1 cars, Sally w/cone, Al Oft Lightyear Blimp etc.

    9. What car(s) do you currently own?
    Silver Vauxhall Astra

    10. What is your dream car?
I'm not one for the fancy stuff, so a new Astra will do me just fine.

    11. What do you do for a day job?
I head up a design studio

    12. Other than Cars Collecting, do you have any hobbies?
I play Table Tennis, and enjoy my Xbox 360 and kinect. And probably 2nd to collecting cars is finding out what will be out next, I seem to spend more time doing this than actual collecting!

    13. What is your greatest ever achievement?
Getting married to my wife Sharon in 2006, seeing my son Reece born & also start walking. Working on the motion graphics for James Bond Casino Royale and creating Doom The Movie End title Sequence with my digital team at work.

    14. What is your favourite ever TV show and favourite ever movie?
    Best TV Show BlackAdder

    Best Movie Ever Er? Cars

    15. If you won "Who want's to be a millionnaire", what would you do with the money?
Good times... I would definitely jack the day job in to spend more time at home, pay off the mortgage and definitely have lots of 4 week holidays with the my family. Probably jump out of a plane, visit Pixar and the Jelly Belly factory... get to the premier of Cars 2. Give some cash to the family, maybe do it like the crystal maze and get them all in a glass room... then chuck 10k in Cash in just to see what happen's. Cruel but enjoyable.

Nice to learn more about you, madbob... I have played quite a bit of table tennis in the past, but after my elbow surgery, I can no longer play right handed and can't play well left handed... As far as the motion sequence for Casino Royale - do you mean the movie or a video game? Please do tell...

We should probably add a question, MrBrownstone, about video game systems... and maybe we're not typing our answers with our wives watching, but we need their continued support for our Cars addiction...

Nice. We're the same age and started collecting at almost the exact same time. I'm like your doppelganger across the pond.

            Hi Chris,

It was working on the movie in 2005-6, all the on screen graphics that you see in the movie that's on the computer screens, mobile phone screens and internal screens at MI5. Nice projects to work on, but they take a long time and need a ton of late nights to finish!

If anyone fancies creating an xbox live black ops or red dead redemption cars syndicate then get in-touch.
