Planes: Fire and Rescue is the current name of the sequel.

Sounds to me like Disney is banking on Planes being successful... now when will Pixar announce Cars 3?

I knew that there was going to be a second Planes movie, I think because I read somewhere that Disney was going to publish "The Art of Planes 1 and 2" in one book...

I read that they plan to make it a trilogy. Maybe they plan to link the two movies rather than individual story lines like in Cars.

WOW! Endless possibilities for awesome new cars, planes and other vehicles! If Mattel and Disney do this correctly ... we will be hooked for generations!! I suddenly feel the need to win the Powerball lol
