  • "Extra Crispy" Rod Torque Redline

During a search on Google for the 2014 collection poster, I stumbled upon this:

"Extra Crispy". Seems funny. But how was the blister created? How did they make it to form the shape of Rod? Is it legit?

haha that's something iv not seen before. I doubt its legit, maybe it could have been a sort of prototype and when they seen it crumbling in someones fingers they binned the idea, or it could be a badly made custom.

I've seen this video before. I was wondering about that too, is it made by Mattel or is it just a custom?

Its obvious that it was custom made. Do you really think a Cars 2 diecast released by Mattel would fly under the radar?? And also would have pieces of it rub off onto your hand while holding it? LOL

This is no more of a legitimate release than this car "Really Low and Slow Ramone" that cars4josh made in his machine shop!!

Pretty sure a member on CTT made that a long time ago, along with Leland Turbo in his crushed up Box form.

I'm sure it's a custom... there are a few people who make their own custom cardbacks.

Can you imagine a 2 pack with this Rod Torque Redline and compacted Leland Turbo? I'd buy it, but I don't think Mattel will ever make it.

Actually these were created by two different people: I created Extra Crispy Rod Torque Redline, but DDD (HerryGrail) created Compacted Leland Turbo first.

I immediately hated the violence of Cars 2 and always wanted to somehow make a statement about it, but it took seeing Compacted Leland Turbo to influence me to create this one.

I chose #28 well before Vladimir Trunkov was announced, but now wish I had gone with #666 or something like that.

I downloaded the Porto Corsa font to create the nametag, and had to scan a couple other nametags to get the #28 to look right. I scanned a Rod Torque Redline cardback, inserted the fiery graphics, and printed the all-new graphics on an Avery label. I placed a Damaged Rod Torque Redline in a bonfire to create the extra crispy look, resealed the package and had my kids help me film the video.

I've always wondered if BluCollection has ever seen my video.

If I ever find the time, I’d also like to create a Porto Corsa card for #36 Rip Clutchgoneski.

By the way, for those of you familiar with "Hitler Rants", I also created this one on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ9wPi9VWcY

Thank you, John in Missouri... your Extra Crispy Rod Torque Redline is fantastic... you put a lot of work into it.

I remember your rant... it was great.

And I look forward to seeing your #36 Rip Clutchgoneski on a Porto Corsa card.

It's the "Good Times" font. I italicized it and stretched it horizontally to make it match the Porto Corsa font.
