Overlooked Cars?

Having seen the likes of Mama Bernoulli in the wild and that Nintendo-like Japanese car with helmet about to be released, just wondered if people feel there's any other missing links?

Probably a personal thing also, I know I still scratch my head why Mattel released Mike Lorengine when Cpl Josh Coolant would have made for a better use of that diecast mould IMO.

There must be a reason for releasing Z-list cars instead of B-list ones, but I can't think of a decent one for the life of me...

Ha, Z-list over B-list seens to be the way of the world these days.

just wondered what others are out there getting no love from Mattel. Coolant even as a DS version is next to impossible to source as he only came in one obscure (and dull) 10-pack a while back.

But on the other hand, it might tempt me into attempting my first custom (not counting pimping my Pope with gold rims, numbers and cross) using Mike.

Thats what surprises me with Mattel sometimes, you have a base mould, such as mater or Lorengine where you can add stuff to it (Hat and cape for El Materdor, clock as air filter for TT Toon Mater, Beret an extra decals for Coolant) yet they dont bother.

Given the secondary market prices for El Materdor, if they did a reissue and put him out with an RRP of 15 quid, ppl would still snap him up (thats likely double to treble what the original RRP was on the first run)

Again, it seems the Marketing and planning development guys need to spend a little more time on collector forums and ebay rather than supping Muay Tai's and back slapping each other over how great a distribution plan they (Dont) have!

Maybe Mattel could not find a better theme to suit due to lack of creativity? We shall see what is coming on 2014! I believe at least 60-70% will be recycled from 2013 or previous years. I believe some Target exclusive might now be available as singles! Mattel could have just release everything and wash their hand but their main target audience are kids not us.. They will milk as long as they could! They will torment us and say i am your worst nightmare for years!

Maybe Mattel will say this is for kids not for adult collectors! Kids ain't that fussy when compared to adult. This should explain why Mattel think every kids
need hundreds of Mcqueen and Mater.

Maybe we can prove that they are wrong by telling them all the adult collectors are going crazy on the 0.99 finn and we own the highest percentage of your finn production! Start take us seriously because as adult collectors we will buy everything even it is a finn. If not we will make you PAY!!!

Maybe the one sitting behind the office making decision is too busy making decisions on what should come not only for Cars but other lines.

Maybe Mattel doesn't even care about the collector communities which i believe is true. Why should they spend time at any Cars communities when cac1959 made a very good point that Cars will sell in spite of Mattel

Maybe Mattel think it is not cost effective thus why some lines are never complete (Hauler, Colour Metallic Racers).


I still think cars like El Materdor might make a come back in future! There is no reason it should not unless they going to abandon the Toons line for good.
There will be demand and the demand is what drives them bringing back the Toons
