Released - 2014 Case 'T'

From T5, first 2014 case (T for some reason not A) is now out in US...not that most collectors will care judging by the contents!



Met has an amusingly sarcastic take on it, but seriously, 5 LMQs (even if 2 variants)?! Add in the 2 bog standard Maters and repeat Francesco and that's 1/3 of your case right there!

And Ramone seems to have had a "hydraulic" failure

i think it's a sad day when the most exciting thing about a new case is why one of the cars is facing the opposite way

however, i guess mattel will always argue that the casual buyer will look for one of the main characters first hence their continual inclusion

Guess some people will get excited at Timothy, and then there's a plastic headset on Fillmore, and then....uhhhh.

As for reverse Wingo, just a theory but maybe it's a visual thing so you can see his flame clearer in the blister due to the slope of the name insert?

I only 1 Wingo with Flames, but will probably buy all when I see them.

What a poor case as far as case contents are concerned.

Timothy Twostroke (first release as a single)
N2O Cola (first release as a single in the mainline line)
Wingo with flames (I collect the Tuners on every cardback)
Fillmore with headset (first release as a single)
Raoul Caroule - but only if it's a unibody
Mater - I do collect Mater on every cardback, but only 1.

and that's it.

Stores that get in this case are going to be sitting on lots of pegwarmers... not a good way to start the 2014 Singles case series, in my opinion.

The Wingo could turn out to be very rare - especially if they correct him and position him facing right in the next case. Could be just a problem with this release. Timothy Twostroke is a nice pickup. The rest of the case is a dog though. Unfortunately this means the pegs will be loaded with pegwarmers again. Many of my local stores when they get a bad case just keep it for months (i.e. case G from this summer - still on the pegs at many Targets and never received another case all year). So just when we think Mattel has learned from the 2012 debacle of case assortments they prove that history has a way of repeating itself again.

Case "B" or should I say U looks quite a bit nicer. I'm excited for 2014. Although this case lettering is really weird and I don't like it one bit. It needs to start with case A! Ha ha.

Even European/international case lettering used to be quite straighforward, but somehow Mattel lost the plot!

Cars 2 started with W1938-996A and went through to 996Y, even if a couple of cases were released out of sync. Then came 997H, 997J, 998G, 998H. Cases 997K, 997L and 997M were cancelled.

Cars 2013 started with 997N, 997P, 997Q, 997R then 997U, 997V, 997W and 997Y. Then they moved to 994B and onto 998C and 998G.

Cars 2014 will start with 998J and 998K apparently!

That second 999U/998K case is better, Louis, Carla on Fire and Carrar.

But still, ANOTHER FIVE Lightning McQueens is madness. It's like those all those millions of cubes that WALL-E stacks as landfill are all crushed LMQs.

I am excited about this case... I started collecting late so there are seven cars in this case that i need, plus the fact that most aren't interested in it means I may actually find them on the shelves

Do you mean regular Mater or Fillmore with Headset?
