  • 2012 Diecasts: From Mattel.com website

A few weeks ago someone post a link showing new diecasts on the Mattel Australia website... I checked it out, and started checking out the Mattel US site... yesterday when I checked it out, it showed new diecasts... Here's the link:

    http://www.mattel.com/cars2/diecast

There is a link to print the poster... it is slow, but it works... I had to choose the fit to page option to get it to print the entire poster, and it's too small to read.

It would be nice if this is in the Master cartons during the Kmart Collector event which is now less than 2 weeks away.

We'll add more about this to the site in the coming days or weeks.

Keep in mind though that just because something is printed on a poster or in a Collector's Guide, it doesn't mean that it will be released as a diecast; check the Missing in Action story at the link below for more:

While it would be nice to see some of those, I wish they would release Rip. I have lost a great deal of interest in the line, and now I mainly want racers and race related Cars. I am actually looking forward to the Kmart 8 Cars... but again a Rip would be wonderful (rubber tires???)

some great looking cars there - no doubt the next six months will see a lot of visits to shops to find they don't have them

On the poster a few are listed with asterisks next to their name:

                          Tokyo Party Guest
                          Sir Harley Gassup
                          Mary Esgocar
                          Alexander Hugo with Party Hat

This means "Name subject to change"

Hmm, interesting. I can understand Tokyo Party Guest but not the others

i guess this also means we aren't going to see Muggsy Liftsome and Taia Decotura anytime soon

Mattel distribution is subject to change... having said that, Met posted on TakeFiveADay a couple weeks ago that 3 packs are going to become TRU exclusives and that Muggsy and Taia would be in 3 packs... my guess is that they'll be in 3 packs before coming out as Deluxe.

If we look at 3 packs, here's why they didn't sell... $19.99 to $22.99 suggested retail price... $8 for a Deluxe single and $4 per each of 2 singles... Was the box worth the $4 to $6 markup of the individual Cars? Of course not.

Holley Shiftwell with wings, Acer, and Trunkov (different names on box but the Petrov Trunkov single) - Trunkov came out before the single... 2 repeats.
Submarine Finn McMissile, Grem, Professor Z (I never bought this 3 pack)
Double Decker Bus, Mater, McQueen - only the bus was not common but it was in the first 2 cases of Deluxe cases.
Kingpin Nobunaga, Mater, McQueen - Kingpin came out as a deluxe before it came out in this 3 pack... Did we need yet another Mater and McQueen? Nope.

If we look at some of the 3 packs in the Race O Rama series, you got 3 singles for $10.99 or a Deluxe and 2 singles for $10.99 or in the case of the Richard Clayton Kensington/Marco Axelbender/Fred lenticular 3 pack, 2 Deluxe and 1 single for $10.99... the price was right for most of these.

If the 3 pack with Taia comes out at $14.99 in the US at TRU, I'll probably buy it - I like Taia... I won't pay that much for Muggsy with 2 repeats... if they're more than $14.99, I'll wait for them to go on sale.

Again, if this year is like previous years, Mattel will release items not on the poster... and just because a Car appears on the poster it does not mean that Mattel will release it.

P.S. - Thanks for the poster link, madbob...
