was that forres castle by chance, and did you go to the findhorn foundation?
my bruv used to work in elgin, one of elgins claims to fame was the production of the 3 wheeler disabled cars that you saw around footy grounds in the 60/70s, found a field with a load of them in various states of repair

I was reliant on train and bus, so my options were limited. I had already been to Urquhart Castle, so as an English Heritage member my priorities were Heritage Scotland, Elgin Cathedral, Huntly Castle, Spynie Palace and Tolquhon Castle this time around plus the three cathedrals in Aberdeen.

Was the Brand New Mater colour influenced by the three wheel cars?

Apart from a signalling problem in the Dyce area (which didn't affect me), the trains were all spot on time. I've come to expect that in Scotland. In my experience, ScotRail, whoever has been the franchisee, had done a good job.

The buses (Stagecoach Bluebird) were also faultless.

Maybe some of the (train) fares were a little expensive, but that's another debate for another day!
