Interesting, thanks for the info. It may be worth seeing if Tesco would price match Asda? I am not sure what Tesco price policy is but no harm in asking. Deluxe are seriously overpriced at £12 but surprisingly Tesco Cars singles are the cheapest around at £5 each. It must have been VERY hard walking out of the store without them. Well done for resisting!

Toys R Us are the latest stores to get the Mama Bernoulli and Luigi/Guido Headset singles case (998W).

Toys R Us have also got a new Radiator Springs Classic case!

I picked up singles Mama Bernouilli, Luigi/Guido Headsets along with RSC Constanza Della Corsa and RSC Dirt Track McQueen.

The RSC singles are now £4.99 at TRU. It looks like there are two of each Costanza and DT McQueen in the case?

Tesco stores publish their price match rules. Price matching doesn't include toys! I've tried to match there before and failed each time as they've pointed this ruling out! They suggested writing to Tesco HQ!

I've seen those new deluxes in sainsburys a few times but they are still 9.99 each in there. I checked TRU today but there was nothing new in there.

sainsbury still has the deluxes at 4.99, as I got grem with camera on monday, had previously bought jungle miles and the iveco tow truck about a fortnight ago

TRU was a bust for me today, nothing new at all.

The four Cars I got today looked like they had only just been put out, so they may well be in TRU's initial batches of them?

Sales of Cars traditionally increases this time of the year, so the latest international singles case 998W will find it's way around very quickly. Before you know it, 998Y will be here. Until now, ASDA have got most of this years cases on a first to market basis, followed by most of the other major retailers.

It remains to be seen if that happens again or we get two cases simultaneously in stores? It was quite rare for Sainsbury's and Tesco to have the same case but as Tesco has scaled down their non-food departments (and replaced many of their cafe's too) someone had to step in and take some of Tesco's allocation (unless Mattel reduced the production run)?

My guess is that Mattel reduced the production run, maybe from average 2,000 of each case to 1,500. Tesco used to order big. Even in the dark days of 2012, Tesco ordered 5,500 cases plus clipstrips for the Christmas market. I don't see them doing that now! Cars and toys is one example why Tesco have got it all horribly wrong. Many stores had two or three cases up on the top shelf. Now there isn't a top shelf and quite often the actual shelves are devoid of any cars!

A recap on this years cases so far in the UK:

I still haven't see 998U anywhere during my US trip or in the UK, must either be bad timing or just the distribution not reaching my stores

Sainsburys pricing on gm is not national. None of my local stores has had deluxes at less than 9.99 for a long time. You are lucky boogity, I would have loved to of gotten those new deluxes for only 4.99!

Do we know the case contents of international 998Y yet if this is the selection after the mama box?

If the contents follow the corresponding US case, then we can expect new cars, Sally (with Tattoo), Alberto and the first UK appearance of Timothy Twostroke!
