Recent Finds - October 2013 Trades and Online Purchases

Ah, great to see RDMS. I daren't think what that goes for, scary stuff.

Was it a general release as part of the Final Lap series? I ask only as I read (almost certainly niftynigel) that Mattel UK and a certain retailer in the UK (where I found lenti's for sale as new old stock last week) have several 100s of cases of these stashed away in some warehouse.

WH Smith were the last recipient of the Final Lap style Lenticular cardbacks in the UK in early 2011. With Cars 2 about to be launched, Mattel, in their usual (puzzling) wisdom decided to stop further deliveries. I'm lead to believe that there are 1,000s of cases in Mattel's warehouse. We weren't collecting Cars that far back, so someone better qualified than me would be able to say what didn't get a UK release. I would guess that we would have to subtract a small number of cars from the unreleased list as Mattel UK don't usually allow us to *Collect Them All*.

There's surely a huge market for these. I would imagine that they would actually have sold quicker that the Cars 2 996Y case that Mattel found a few weeks ago?

There's plently of *unreleased* FL styled Lenticulars in the UK. Quite why they are hanging onto them remains a mystery. In the past they've sold things off cheap to bargain shops and the like, so maybe there is a plan to *fill a gap* somewhere along the line?

P.S. If you are reading this Mattel UK ...

1). Please allow us to complete the 2013 singles.
2). Please circulate enough cars for as many collectors as possible to *Collect Them All*, that includes Ichigo!
3). If you are thinking of overstocking some old cars just to fill the shelves, don't! Just release all those FL Lenticulars you've been holding on to for the past 2 1/2 years!

After telling myself over and over again, I will only pay so much for a car to end up opening and giving to the kids to play with, I finially broke down and purchased Barry Diesel...I saw it drop back down to $39.99 with free shipping on Amazon and pulled the trigger. I might still take it out of the package and let the kids play with it, but I'm not sure about that yet.

And Ferris - I think $39.99 with shipping is a good deal for Barry Diesel... It was originally $25 plus shipping back when it was on MattyCollector.com; I'm sure I had $32 each in mine.

I've had Barry Diesel out of the box since I got him in 2011. The kids play with it, but they are careful with him and he is still in great condition.
