It looks like the case assortments are as follows:

It's quite poor, when the US has had 18 assortments, but the UK has only had five, although you could say it's ten with the five Disney Store assortments. There aren't that many Disney Stores, so their exclusive cases can't really be considered to be widely available! The UK has missed loads of cars in the US 958R and 958T cases. More cars have been missed in the 946J and 946K cases. There are supposed to be two more cases in the UK, Disney 24A and 962D(?) on general circulation.

backs is as follows:

Disney Stores - 3,600
ASDA - 1,000 plus clipstrips
Morrisons - 1,000 plus clipstrips
Tesco - 500
Sainsburys - 500
Hamleys - ?
Toymaster - generally older stuff.
The Entertainer - only older stuff.
Others - ?

That's only between 10,000 to 11,000 cases in total.

The Disney Store Mix 23A with Silver Metallic Tim Treadless has appeared at Smyths as case 963S.

The 963W case with Hydraulic Florida Ramone, previously only at Smyths has now appeared at Sainsburys. They appear to have two cases per store and the cars are Ł5.30 each.

What looks to be the final Cars 2020 case (DXV29-962F) has just started to appear to Smyths Toy Superstores across the UK and Ireland.

It looks like Smyths got an initial delivery this week of around 200-250, with most stores getting between one and three cases each.

The case is based on the US 946N case, but unlike the European 962D case, Metallic Snot Rod (GKB05) is not in the UK version (962F). There is only one Raoul CaRoule (Silver Collection) (GKB59) . In the place of the two missing cars, there are two regular Snot Rods (GKB26).

Thank you for your detailed posts, niftynigel... my UK friends missed out on a lot of great Cars that were released in 2020... I think there were only 2 of those that I did not see in stores in the US as they didn't come near me in eastern Indiana... and you missed out on other Cars in 2019 also.

The lists of Cars that were not released in the UK, were posted to the best of my knowledge. As I wasn't able to visit Disney Store on a regular basis (every week), they may well have got some of the missing Cars (particularly in 2018-2019) in their own assortments.

A manager at one of the stores was keeping me up to date with recent assortments (for 2020) (18A through to 23A). There was another assortment due at Disney, presumably 24A (as they have been in order so far), but I haven't been able to get into London for a few weeks. Other collectors have reported nothing new at their Disney Stores, so presumably 24A hasn't arrived?

In any case (pardon the pun), England is now under a four week lockdown, where all non-essential shops have had to close, so visiting Disney Store will have to wait until at least early December.

Locally, I have TK Maxx (nothing at the moment), Sainsburys, ASDA, Morrisons and Tesco superstores. On a rare visit to my office, I popped into B&M Bargains, but nothing there.

I have been fairly lucky with Hot Wheels. Although they are now closed for a month, just before lockdown, I got loads of Hot Wheels (Ford's, Aston Martin, Hudson Hornets) at The Entertainer.

That's a very good question!

Apart from online selling, retailers have lost four months selling through shops this year. It's likely that the some cases / assortments have been cancelled as a result, as Mattel would like to stick to a rough timetable of releasing similar products at similar times throughout the world.

Looking at the production dates on the cars / case assortments in the UK, they are generally two / three weeks behind most other parts of the world, so if current stocks are cleared from retailers now and into December, it's likely that the first 2021 case / assortment could appear before Christmas.

Candidates for getting the first case (in no particular order) are:

Disney Stores, Smyths Toy Superstores, ASDA, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tesco and some Toymasters.

It really depends on what deals have been signed between Mattel and the retailers. In the past, both ASDA and Morrisons have had deals to get cases on a 'first to market' basis. The 2020 cases appeared at Disney first last year, so who'll get them is anyone's guess, if COVID-19 allows!
