My display cases started out as storage cases for audio cassettes.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Napa-Valley-...item3cd58188fc
I gutted them and cut 1/4" MDF slats and painted them.

Then ended up doing some DYI and made some from scratch. Dimentions here:

incredible, a storage for audio cassettes, that`s a very clever idea and much cheaper than the plastic cases.

How well do the cars sit on the cassette holder when facing forward and how many fit?

I found these at a consignment store for $12 & $13 but passed on them. I think I'm looking for something biggerI than these. I don't like how they'd hang off facing forward.

Only the small cars like Mia & Tia or Buzz & Woody will fit facing forward. The depth is only 3"/7cm.

In addition to the display cases I get at Hobby Lobby, they are on the website... here's the item number:

              http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/...e-pack-782987/

Mater Cars do not fit; Boost with Flames is too long... The King is too long.

Others have used these M2 display cases - Mater and longer Cars do fit:

Some Walmart stores used to have the M2 display cases.

I knew this day was coming and it would take hours...

Here was our current display and it needed to be updated.

These are some of the Cars sitting around that needed to be added.

Here is all the trash left over when we updated the display...

Here is our display when we were finished adding new stuff.

To make room for the new stuff, I had to take all the McQueens out of the big case and put them in M2 cases...

I had to move the painting to be able to fit all this.

Got all 3 versions of the Tunerz in here...

Since I had to move the painting over, I guess I'll be putting the 2014 Super Chases next to the current ones instead of below...

I stuck Luigi and Guido next to the Ferrari instead of in the Fan Stands...

These guys were put next to the Fan Stands...

Here is our current lineup for the Fan Stands...

                Haulers and Wrastlin' Cars...

                Frank and his Tractors...

Here is our Radiator Springs display...

                Street Race!

                Tires for sale...

                Flo's...

Red and Mack hanging out behind Ramone's...

Our Oil Rig set-up hasn't changed much...

                Lots of Lemons...

This hobby is still fun even though my kids aren't really into it much anymore.

So I've been trying to find a cheap way to display Mason's collection. I decided to convert some wine cases that I had laying around. They had slots already in them for shelves and that give the option to slide a piece of plexiglass in where the lid used to slide in. Here's my progress. I have 3 of these I plan on doing. Let me know what you think. I masked and spray painted the checkerboard. Still need to paint the inside.

That looks great! I need to come up with a display as well.

I must say, the below is my favorite display idea. It looks awesome but not realistic for the size of my son's collection.

I like that too. This idea is cool and a little easier than molding a car window into the wall lol.

but we would need the windows out of a bus to display our collections lol
